Chris & Adrienne are dear friends of ours and shooting for people who you care about is always so much fun. These two have dropped everything to catch some seriously important moments for our family this past year. I love you guys and Denver, CO is gaining two truly amazing & hilarious artists.

I loved following Laurie & Sam around to see their favorite parts of Chicago. To cap off our session, we ended the night with sushi and drinks. It’s quite possible I may start requiring that as the ending to all of my sessions. ;) Love to you two!!!!

Summer days, drifting away

I spent 3 hours in the blazing heat with this beautiful family and Heather & Ray almost decided not to do their Forever Session because it was so warm. I’m so thankful that they did because I adore the images. Here’s a quick look at their time with me:

And then mom and dad snuck away for some schmoopy-ocity…

and one more of KK, just because it cracks me up:

Forever – Angela & Will

When Angela sent me an email about setting up a Forever session for her and her love, the email title was “The schmoopiest couple you’ll ever meet”. They certainly lived up to that promise. I loved watching these two laugh and interact together!

Forever – Molly & John

I had the pleasure of stealing Molly & John away from their normal, every day lives for some time alone to slow down and, well, just be schmoopy. I adore seeing people love on each other with minimal input from me.

This weekend I had the pleasure of shooting a dual birthday treat for Brian & Kristin Kaplan. The lovely thing about shooting other photographers is the willingness to go pretty much anywhere…even if it means climbing under semi trailers, breaking into a cemetery and generally wandering until I exclaim “Ohhh! Over there!”

Hypothetically if a certain photographer were to “accidentally” shoot down a wife’s shirt and then tell the husband “That’s for you. Happy Birthday!” this might be the hypothetical reaction. ;)

Lots of love and sweet bday wishes you two! (even if you did ingest a candle while eating the cupcakes)

(Quick note, I’ll be taking some time away from work Feb. 21-28th. Phone calls and most emails will be returned after that time. Thank you for your patience!)

It’s been 6 years since I shot a wedding entirely on film and, to be honest, I miss the excitement of getting the images back from the lab. This weekend I decided to tape up the back of my camera, just to get that feeling back again, during a couple’s session with Kristen & David. As hard as it was to adjust to, finally seeing the images as I loaded them onto the computer brought back that excitement of the unknown. Thanks for hanging out with me, K & D!

Let it snow…

Thursday, February 4, 2010      Posted in: Forever Sessions, Weddings

Ever since we photographed their wedding last March, Steph and Chris have become some of our dearest friends. Randy and I threw around ideas of shooting their After Session at the beach in April but when the snow hit this afternoon I KNEW that I had to call them. It rarely ever snows in our area of Tennessee and it never stays on the ground for more than a day. Steph, who disliked anything wedding related, shocked me by yelling “Awesome!” and an hour later we were scaling a fence for their shoot.

Steph said the weather reminded her of their first date because it was freezing cold and she had to snuggle into Chris for warmth, like this…

“Here Chris, hold my camera while I climb over.”
“Pictures? Okay!”
“Noooooooooooo!”
And there you have it, folks. Snowy Kate straddling a fence.
