Old Town, Alexandria Wedding

Monday, August 30, 2010      Posted in: Weddings

Lauren & Josh were such a joy to work with during their wedding. The ceremony and reception were held at the Torpedo Factory in Old Town, where Lauren’s great grandfather used to work. I talked Lauren into putting her dress on a bit early so we could wander and have fun with bridal shots, so I have a ton of images to share later of her.
Just a few teasers up for now!

Thanks to my beautiful friend Kate for traveling out to assist me while I was sick…and attempting to make it through the wedding day. Love you girl!

B & K amazed us with quite the party. Two bands traveled in from New Orleans, there were hours of dancing, tons of laughter….it was a wonderful, wild wedding day!

Westin St. John Wedding Photography

Wednesday, June 23, 2010      Posted in: Couples, Weddings

The entire wedding day, I was a bit worried at what the weather would hold for Stephani & Travis. But the rain cleared up just in time for a gorgeous beach ceremony and we still a bit afterward for some down time before the reception. Thank you two so much for being open to whatever I asked! Anna and I had such a wonderful time shooting with you!

St. John Destination Wedding Photography

Stephani and Travis were married this past weekend at the Westin St. John Resort in the USVI. I really can not say enough wonderful things about this couple, who were so gracious and kind to us. St. John and St. Thomas were absolutely amazing….thanks S & T for flying Anna and I in for your “special day”! (hehehe Steph hates that phrase so I had to throw it in, just for fun)

Michelle, the Westin’s wedding specialist, was such a joy to work with…as were all of the fabulous vendors.

Asheville Wedding Photography – Leslie & Bruce

Tuesday, May 18, 2010      Posted in: Weddings

Whoops, my Monday post accidentally slipped into a Tuesday post! A few years ago my dear friend Kate Monroe drove in at the last minute to assist me at a wedding and this past weekend I had the pleasure of returning the favor! Everything fell perfectly into place for Leslie & Bruce’s big day at the North Carolina Arboretum and the skies cleared up just in time for their outdoor wedding. I adore having the opportunity to focus on my main love, pure photojournalism, and Asheville is absolutely gorgeous!

Thanks for having me along, Kate-love! Can’t wait to see you again soon!

Destination Wedding Photography – Anna’s Veranda

Monday, April 19, 2010      Posted in: Weddings

Finishing off our week at the beach, I had the pleasure of capturing Tressa and Bill’s big day at Anna’s Veranda in Inlet Beach, FL. These two came alive when they saw each other for the first time…it was so moving. A big thank you to Southern Event Planners for keeping the day running smoothly (and being so fantastic to work with!).

Tennessee Farm Wedding

Here’s a sneak peek of Lanna & Lee’s big day at Cedarwood! The idea of hanging mason jars with candles in the trees is just so romantic. I caught a quick shot of the rings on one jar during twilight.

Bright blues and crisp whites…love the spring colors!

Erin & Mike – Franklin, TN Wedding

Monday, March 1, 2010      Posted in: Weddings

I can’t wait for my wedding season to officially start next week! I adore “smoochy” newborns (as my friend Jonathon would say) and families but couples will always be my favorite subjects. There’s so much anticipation on a wedding day, plus emotion between couples during sessions, and that fuels my love of photography. Mike & Erin were previous clients who had a quiet, calm peace that resonated with Randy and I. They also allowed a lot of time to shoot prior to the wedding, which led to a relaxing atmosphere for their big day!

Erin’s dad’s face after giving away his little girl…

Have a beautiful week everyone!

Let it snow…

Thursday, February 4, 2010      Posted in: Couples, Weddings

Ever since we photographed their wedding last March, Steph and Chris have become some of our dearest friends. Randy and I threw around ideas of shooting their After Session at the beach in April but when the snow hit this afternoon I KNEW that I had to call them. It rarely ever snows in our area of Tennessee and it never stays on the ground for more than a day. Steph, who disliked anything wedding related, shocked me by yelling “Awesome!” and an hour later we were scaling a fence for their shoot.

Steph said the weather reminded her of their first date because it was freezing cold and she had to snuggle into Chris for warmth, like this…

“Here Chris, hold my camera while I climb over.”
“Pictures? Okay!”
“Noooooooooooo!”
And there you have it, folks. Snowy Kate straddling a fence.
